Ina's Farewell at Suan Thai

Its a tradition in Ms Karmi's office to arrange a farewell lunch/dinner for whom will go abroad for Masters/PhD. Study abroad is dream of every member of my office. Thats why, the farewell is really important, not only to one who will go, to give him/her motivation and prayer, but also for us, who haven't got those degree. The farewell arranged for Ina who will study to Sidney next week. We had lunch at Suan Thai, Cideng.

Suan Thai is one of Thai cuisine restaurant in Jakarta. In recent years, thai cuisine became well-known worldwide as an ethnic cuisine. It has  strong aromatic components and famous of the sour and spiciness food. This kind of food is just similar with Indonesian food, so that it can be well accepted here.

Anniversary Dinner at Sate Khas Senayan

February 9th is our wedding anniversary. This year we celebrate our 6th anniversary. Anniversary for us is a time to celebrate the beauty, gift, and the blessing of enduring love. Yes, because of love, we still together, holding hands each other -also our daughter's  hands-, share our dreams for better tomorrow.

We had our anniversary celebration at Sate Khas Senayan, an Indonesian Food Specialist. They offer traditional food from all over Indonesia, and serve them in more modern way. Eventhough, they still keep the traditional recipes of the food. Eating there is just like coming home and enjoy Grandma's recipes :)

The interior of Sate Khas Senayan Mall Citra Grand Cibubur.
We sat on the rattan chairs, beside the very wide windows. This rattan chairs bold the traditional image of the restaurant. I also love their cristal hanging light over the table. Just not usual to use that kind of lighting for a restaurant.

There are always "wayang" in every Sate Khas Senayan Outlets

While waiting for the food, lets take some selfie pictures :)

For many people, anniversary dinner shoul be a couple dinner. But Mr Karmi, didn't want to leave our sweet daughter, Nasywa. We leave her everyday for work, so we always want to be with her during weekend.

First menu, Teh Poci, black tea served in a clay pot. This serving method is used by people especially the Javanesse people until this day. This clay pot, named Poci can keep the quality of tea while its brewed.

I ordered Lontong Cap Go Meh. This is an occassional menu, usually served during Imlek, Chinese New Year Celebration. I liked the lontong and the coconut curry, also the boiled egg, satay and tofu.
Ayam Kremes, fried chicken with crispy, served with traditional sambal and salad. My daughter enjoyed this dish. We usually eat ayam kremes with steam rice.

My beloved husband ordered Soto Betawi with steam rice. Soto is a common dish that almost every region in Indonesia have their own Soto. Soto Kudus, sroto are from Central Java, while Soto Bandung, Soto Bogor are from west Java. We also have Soto Padang from West Sumatra, Soto Banjar from Borneo, and many more. The differences are in the ingredients and broth. Our menu, Soto Betawi recipe comes from ancient Jakarta. Soto Betawi made from special broth with coconut pasta and herbs and or milk, accompanied with beaf, fried potato, tomato, and cracker.
Nasywa -not like another child- very loves eating. In a day, she can eat 4 times, excluding snack, milk, fruit juice. How she loves food could be seen here :)

Everyday is special day simply because we have each other as partner..

Happiness is about to choose the good things from every bad things..
And yes, We are happy family during this 6 years, and heading for years of happiness and love..
Happy anniversary, Mr and Mrs Karmi

Treat Your Belly at Tokyo Belly..

The Logo..
Tokyo Belly is one of the new opening resto in Grand Indonesia. It is a brand under Ismaya Group -famous resto& lounge owner in Indonesia. You may familiar with another member of Ismaya Group such as Kichenette, Social House, Pasta de Waraku, Sushi Groove etc. I have experienced eating in some member of Ismaya Group, and really enjoy their food and their concept. Luckily, Ismaya Group often has promo discount price using CIMB Niaga. That's why, when i know they opened a new resto and give 15% discount price, I don't think twice to sit down and order the menu :)

Tokyo Belly, by concept, is a modern Japanese bistro, which offers a various cuisine, with menu categories ranging from ramen, signature sushi rolls, Japanese curry, omurice, hot stone bibimbap, to J-Dog. The interior of Tokyo Belly is dominated by light colour wood. To bold their concept of Japanese bistro, they add some Sakura painting, and Japanese Alphabets on the wall and ceiling.

The interior..
I came to Tokyo Belly with colleagues during our lunch time. We ordered Blossom Belly and Kinky Kelly for appetizer. Both sushi rolls was great.

The blossom belly,
deep fried roll with salmon, crabmeat, cream cheese with sweet and spicy sauce (55k)

Kinky Kelly,
tempura tiger prawn topped with grilled salmon & tobiko mayo sauce (55k)

For main course, each of us has different choice. Unfortunatelly, some menus were not ready to serve, like bibimbap. They told us that it took several hours to cook the rice. I didn't know wheter it is true or not. But it was disappointing. If you don't ready with the dish during lunch time, you will lost your potential revenue. I think most of visitor in Grand Indonesia are employees from the office sorroundings who need food for lunch. Hope they make better improvement in the future.

The menu ordered by my friend, Tempura Chige Ramen, Ramen with tempura fried salmon and vegie (62k)

Assorted Mushroom Omurice  (53k)
Fried Rice, wrapped by egg omelette..

Tempura Seafood Omurice  (62k)
another kind of omurice, topped by tempura prawn and veggie..love their sauce, called demi-glace sauce.

and my order was Cod Roe Salmon Steak  (68k)
salmon steak, served with mashed potato, and steamed purple potato. The salmon was well done, blended perfectly with the sauce. The combination of colour was very pretty.

For beverage, I recommend you to try matcha blast. It was creamy but refreshing though..

The full of belly expression :)
If you are looking for place to chit chat with friend, Tokyo Belly should be your destination. The ambience is warm and clean. About the food, to be honest, is just average. Still want to comeback to try some menu, like J-dog or J-Pasta, to taste how Japanese interpret Hotdog and Pasta on their way..

The Green of Tea Leaves at Agrowisata Gunung Mas

What is your favourite place for kiling time during weekend? If this question comes to me,
I hope that I can answer Bali, or Singapore, or Hongkong *justinmydream lol

But, actually, by reading this blog, you may notice that The Karmi's oftenly go to Puncak during weekend. Yes, we like Puncak for reasons of  location,  ambience, and cool fresh air.

This was our another visit to Puncak, in mid November last year. We took the family of Mr Karmi -Mama, Papa, Mr Kirmi, Ms Betty and Rizhan- to enjoy the green of tea leaves at Agrowisata Gunung Mas.

The best thing you can do in Gunung Mas is tea walk. It is so nice to walk on the rocky road between the tea tree. Come to Gunung Mas early in the morning, where we can touch the dawn on the leaf. We can also see the Tea Picker, the Aunties with unique bamboo hat  who pick the tea leaf. There is also horse riding for visitors with charge. For whom may want to stay the night, Gunung Mas also provide some villa and room for rent.

The weather didn't support our visit. It began to rain after 40 minutes, so we couldn't do 'tea walk' for long distance. However, we still had enough time to take photos :)

Here are the result!
First Walk of Tea Walk Journey

The Karmis on White..

Mr Karmi always loves self standing photo :)

The Kirmi's on red..Thanks for visiting us..

Another picture..cheers

The heavy clouds..

The complete family..White and Red..Lovee..
Don't forget to buy a cup of homemade tea from Gunung Mas in the Cafe. You can also buy some packs for your beloved one. They have high quality green tea, black tea, and white tea as well. I haven't tried white coffe yet. People say white coffe is good for your body, as medicine for some diseases. No wonder the price of the last one is the most expensive among others.

There is also tea plants in Gunung Mas. I was there during my college, when we did fieldtrip. But I am not sure wether all visitors can observe plants for free.

Overall, despite of the rain, we really had great time at GunungMas.
